A group of students from Shek Lei Catholic Secondary School has triumphantly completed the "Soaring Dreams Barista Summer Internship Program." This immersive course was expertly crafted to introduce participants to the essential skills of coffee making and the art of being a barista.

This remarkable initiative was organized by Wine Charity Limited and received generous support from co-organizer Pacific Coffee, showcasing a strong partnership in fostering young talent. The program officially kicked off on July 18, 2024, marking the beginning of an exciting journey for these aspiring baristas.
The program provided students with a well-rounded learning experience, commencing with classroom-based lessons that covered the essential aspects of coffee. Participants gained knowledge about various coffee bean origins, processing methods, and the techniques involved in brewing a quality cup of coffee from bean to beverage. Their theoretical understanding was further assessed through an examination.
A key component of the internship was the practical experience gained at Pacific Coffee outlets across the city. From July 20 to August 8, 2024, the students had the opportunity to apply their classroom learning in a real-world setting. Under the guidance of experienced baristas, they practiced essential skills such as serving customers, preparing a variety of coffee drinks, and learned the art of latte making on August 2, 2024. Their latte art skills were further assessed during an exam held on August 9, 2024. This hands-on experience provided invaluable insights into the daily operations of a coffee shop and the demands of the service industry.

The culmination of the intensive course and practical internship was a graduation ceremony held at Shek Lei Catholic Secondary School on August 31, 2024. The event celebrated the students' hard work, dedication, and achievements throughout the program. Proud teachers, representatives from Pacific Coffee and Wine Charity Limited were present to congratulate the graduating cohort on their success.
This "Soaring Dreams Barista Summer Internship Program" aimed to ignite students' interest in coffee culture and potentially open new avenues for their future career paths. The successful completion of the program marks a significant achievement for the students, equipping them with foundational skills and practical experience in the dynamic world of coffee.
